Personality:
Compassionate and kind, Joshua Rosfield is an empathetic man who, at a very young age, inherited the heavy burden of housing a god within his body. Blessed with the powers of the Phoenix, Joshua spent much of his childhood sick and under the thumb of his oppressive and narcissistic mother. While Joshua was doted on he was also treated like a doll and forbidden to do many things little boys his age would be doing. Watching how she treated his older brother always left a terrible taste in his mouth, especially since, as the first born, the Phoenix's gift should have gone to Clive instead. Despite their mother's cruelty, Joshua always idolized and looked up to Clive, both in childhood and as an adult. Seeing how unfairly his brother was treated instilled a strong sense of empathy and justice within him at a young age.
While most people look down upon Bearers (people who are able to use magic without crystals) and treat them as slaves, Joshua treats everyone with the same respect and dignity he wishes to be afforded. He goes out of his way to heal and help those who are less fortunate than himself, despite the fact that using his healing magic causes his own frail composition to worsen. The way Joshua views the world is through the lenses of a man who knows he's living on borrowed time, and so he always acts with a sense of purpose and meaning. He also views himself, to some degree, as being weak, due to his health and physical shortcomings. It definitely makes him feel lesser compared to his brother Clive or others he meets, but he never dwells upon such thoughts in a self-pitying fashion.
Joshua also has a bit of a playful, if not mischievous streak to him, and while he usually does what he's told, he also has his moments of stubborn defiance. He has to constantly be hounded by his retainers to take his medicine, even though he knows he should, and he has no qualms about standing up to his older brother to put him in his place (going so far as to punch him in the face). He's also very affectionate naturally, not shying away from hugging those he cares about or showing them in other ways that he cares for them. It doesn't take much either for Joshua to consider someone a friend or ally either. Usually he's a relatively good judge of character and he is not someone to hold the sins of one's forebearers against them.
Powers and abilities:
As the Dominant of the Phoenix, Joshua Rosfield has access to a slew of impressive abilities. Thanks to his connection with the Eikon of Fire, he can use the Phoenix's magic to heal people's injuries and illness, manifest wards and can create flames and manipulate fire at will. He uses this ability for fighting with offensive fire spells or for illumination, creating orbs of fire that float and work as lanterns. He is also able to semi-prime, where he takes on physical traits of the Phoenix (think wings/tail/feathers etc) and in turn grows stronger/is able to fly. Lastly, he's able to fully transform into the Phoenix when he fully primes, becoming the massive firebird.
Beyond these abilities Joshua has trained to use a sword and can do so rather effectively. He also is quite well written and mannered, due to his upbringing.
